07/19/2002  1200S Took delivery of a new 2001 Sportster 1200S.    Oh BOY!  Here we go!
08/07/2002 99484-02A 2001 XL Service Manual 08/22/2002 The wrong book was ordered, luckily, the store had a 2001 version in stock. They just swapped. Done!
08/15/2002 53852-00 2-up Sport Luggage Rack, Wrinkle Black 08/23/2002 The next few items all are installed together. I installed this stuff in the full afternoon sun. Done!
08/15/2002 52426-99 Sissy Bar, Low Upright, Wrinkle Black 08/23/2002 It was sweltering. I broke two torx wrenches getting the old bolts off. I hate crappy tools. This is a perfect chance to go get myself a decent set of torx. Done!
08/15/2002 53528-95B Docking Hardware Kit, w/o Saddlebags 08/23/2002 To make matters worse, the very last bolt that goes in the side plates was getting crummed up with the excess paint in the threads. Done!
08/15/2002 52612-95 Smooth Backrest Pad 08/23/2002 I muscled it on through, right up to snapping the bolt head off!  Damn it!! The other three bolts are tight, and nothing moves. Its not a critical bolt, Done!
08/15/2002 53609-01 Black Wrinkle Side plate Kit 08/23/2002 I will have to drill it out at a later date. But for now, this install is done. Done!
09/03/2002 1000 Mile Maintenance 09/03/2002 So soon?  but I just got it!!!! Done!
09/03/2002    Vance & Hines StraightShots  09/03/2002  I really, really love these pipes.  They produce good power and sound AWESOME!  Done!
09/03/2002    Screaming Eagle High Flow Air Cleaner Kit  09/03/2002  If I'm gonna do the pipes gotta do the air intake as well!  Done!
11/17/2002 EBAY   Corbin Gunfighter saddle 11/23/2002  Found it on EBay - got a good deal on it.  It sits differently than the stock saddle, but I think I like it a lot better. Done!
08/15/2002 68517-94A Turn Signal Relocation Kit 08/03/2003  Finally!  I thought I lost the kit, but found it today in the bottom of a box.  The install went easy - no major issues. Done!
09/20/2003   3000 Miles!   Odo rolled 3k today while I was on the G Bush Tollway
09/20/2003 49106-84  Highway Peg Kit  09/20/2003 I have wanted a set of highway pegs.  I just needed another place to rest my feet while cruising.  Done!
09/20/2003 various  Oil Change / Filter Change 09/20/2003  Technically the bike didn't need an oil change, but I wanted to do one - cant hurt.  I have been doing some research online and decided that I would move the bike over to pure synthetic oil.  To be on the safe side, I used the HD branded synthetic, 20w-50.  This included changing the oil filter as well.  I took the bike on a test run, and really worked  the engine.  It did seem to be running cooler - but I'll have to do more road tests to be sure.   Cost: 3 x $8.25 (oil) + $8.50 (filter) = $33.25 Done!
10/15/2003 LED lights direct replacement for existing bulbs 10/18/2003 After having one of the turn signals burn out, I decided to move to LED's for my brake light and turn signals. Done!
10/15/2003 LED Load equalizer Artificially loads the signal circuit to keep the blinkers working 1/18/2003 Wow, first time I have actually had to splice wires on this bike. I normally don't have problems with splicing and ripping into things. But, its still "new" (at least in my mind). Well, damage done, things are better than they were before. Done!
3/20/2004 EBAY Oil Temp dip-stick 3/28/2004 Something that I think I needed. I really have no idea the actual temps of the bike. This is an easy install - just replace the old dipstick Done!
3/20/2004 EBAY Pillow Solo seat pending My Corbin was ok, it was comfortable for a few hours, but after a second tank of gas, it just didn't feel right. Perhaps this one will work better. The upshot, it really looks cool on the bike. The downside - I have to go to the dealership to order the mounting bracket. The seat is in perfect condition - save for the bracket so that I can bolt it to the bike. Done!
3/21/2004 EBAY Custom Chrome Levers 3/28/04 Since the first week I have owned the bike, I have had a broken brake lever. The knobby end had snapped off. It never bothered me, and I promised myself that if I ran across a good deal on levers, I would pick up a set. These are just a direct stock replacement. Nothing fancy. But it looks better now. Done!
3/25/2004 69305-02 Clear Lens for turn signals 3/28/2004 Since I swapped out the regular bulbs for LED's, I never got around to swapping the lenses on the turn signals. It really softens the look of the turn signals, but lets more light through. Too bad I cracked a lens when I was putting it on. I epoxied to back together, but I will keep an eye out for a replacement for the replacement. Grrr.... Done!
3/25/2004 69625-99 Headlight trim ring 3/28/2004 Such a small piece and what a difference it makes! The headlight stands out and looks sharp now. I still have the factory black eyebrow - but I think I will keep that - it makes a nice contrast to the extra chromey headlight now. Done!
6/30/2004   27 tooth front pulley 6/4/2004 On the trip back from KC, the bike stripped out the front pulley (see story here). OEM is a 29 tooth pulley, but I decided to up the torque a bit witha 27 toother. This is the OEM pulley from an 883. I'll gain some RPMs in the high range (about 10% higher), but we'll see how it goes. Done!
6/30/04   Rocker Box Gasket Kit 6/7/2004 Also from the KC trip - right at 5k miles, the rear rocker box started to leak. Right on time :). Done!
9/1/2004   Battery 9/2/2004 Since getting back from KC, the bike has been sitting. Dead battery. No amounts of charging would bring it back. So, in goes a new one. Done!
2005 misc misc 2005

Not a lot of time to ride. The bike has been mechincally in good shape. Nothing to report

Mar 2006   Daytona Bike Week   Helluva good time! A must attend event if you ride or pilot a vehicle on two wheels. Some how I got out of there w/o buying any upgrades for the bike.
April 2006 misc Front Fork Seals   After the Daytona trip, the seals on my front forks were leaking. I ended up bringing to the local Dealer. Everything I read about rolling-your-own seals, make it sound like its too precision of a job for my ham fists. Done!
5/20/06 misc Oil change   The bike only has 7500 miles on it. But I have been traveling quite a bit. the oil was needed because it had been in the bike for a while (over a year). That, and in two weeks, am headed down to ROTT in Austin. Done!
