Lidcomb

Lidcomb is a section of Sydney.  It is the home of the Olympic village.  But that was not the purpose of our trip.  Terry's family is originally from the Ukraine.  And here in Sydney,  Lidcomb is the Ukraine community.  We went for a few reasons, to get a chance to ride the subway, and to visit someplace other than the downtown area.
Here I am on the Sydney subway.  It is a pretty cool form of transportation.  Very clean, and very cheap to travel.  The trip was about 30 minutes from down town, and a round trip ticket was on $3.50AUD.  In a cab it would have been 10 times as much!
This fellow is named Ivan Heshko. Terry overheard him talking on the train.  He is a Ukraine Olympic athlete.  He didn't speak a word of English. Luckily Terry knows a little bit of Ukrainian, and we found out he competed in Athletics.  He was on his way back the village to pack up and head out of town.
Here is a Catholic Ukrainian church in Lidcomb.
The dome inside the church.
Here I am on the street in Lidcomb.
And we are back at Darling Harbour.  This time, the Opera House is in view.
Sarah.  The hostess at Wolfies Grill.  Where we had dinner that evening.  Very good meal.
